Customizing the Ring to Her Style

August 20th, 2016

Do You Know What She Likes?

It might sound obvious, but if you don’t know what she likes, you might find it difficult to customize a ring to her particular style. Whether you ask her outright or get a little more creative (check her Pinterest boards, ask her friends, or check with her mom), you need to have at least a general idea of what brings a smile to her face.

The Setting

The setting, or the design of the ring (excluding the actual center stone), is where you can really focus on the details. Whether she prefers simple and classic or stand-out and sparkly, you can customize each and every component until the ring is perfect.

You can choose the metal that the ring is made from, and popular choices include white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, platinum, silver, and more. You can add side stones in a variety of colors, sizes, and patterns to create a specific overall look. You can add metal details like leaves, scrolls, and casings for stones that will create a completely unique effect. You can even add in hidden, meaningful details that only she will know about, like a heart-shaped diamond only seen from the underside of the ring.

The Stone

Once you have the general layout of the setting designed, you can start the hunt for the perfect diamond. Decide where you want your money to go by deciding which of the 4 Cs (cut, color, clarity, carat) is the most important. You can look at your options under magnification to really get a good idea of what caliber stone you’re choosing.
